Coffee!
Ahh the sweet smell of coffee brewing in the morning. My daily routine always starts with a fresh cup of coffee. We use a french press in our house, which gives off such an amazing smell from the beans being ground first thing. I love it! Even though this is just part of our daily routine it is so much more than just the smell and enjoyment that keeps me sipping. There are so many benefits that come with drinking coffee.
Coffee increases your metabolic rate with its caffeine, so by drinking a cup of coffee in the morning before your workout you can stimulate your metabolism and start burning calories.
Coffee protects the liver from liver damaging substances like alcohol and acetaminophen.
It includes minerals like magnesium and potassium as well as B1 and B3 vitamins.
Magnesium reduces blood pressure levels, supports the immune system, and helps with muscle and nerve function. It is also involved in the metabolism of carbs, fats, and protein.
Potassium helps regulate fluid balance, reduce blood pressure, protect against stroke, and prevent osteoporosis and kidney stones.
Vitamin B1 is critical in the metabolism of sugar and amino acids as well as central nervous system function.
Vitamin B3 is a critical part in the metabolism of proteins, carbs, and fat. With a B3 deficiency some side effects may be inflammation of the skin, headaches, diarrhea, or memory loss.
Coffee is also helpful in relieving constipation.
